Technical Assistance

Our Center will offer training, consulting, and educational opportunities to assist farms and food businesses in honing their skills, reaching new markets, and finding actionable strategies that can help them better compete and collaborate the region.

Our Center serves as a hub to connect farms and food businesses to a network of experienced technical assistance providers in the Appalachia USDA RFBC region. Businesses in our region can work with the Center for standalone technical assistance through one of its existing partner organizations, or they can receive technical assistance in preparation for a Business Builder Sub-Award.

The technical assistance offered will align with priorities our Center has identified for Appalachia including: increasing accessibility of food, markets and funding; building and maintaining community wealth and wellness; connecting local and regional value chains; and increasing fairness and equity in the food system.

Our technical assistance aligns with these three strategic goals:

  •  Food and Farm Business Development – e.g. develop viable food and farm businesses to meet consumer demand, enhance financial stability for farm and food businesses, increase region’s food supply to enhance food security

  •  Market Access – e.g.  strengthen existing markets, expand new markets, increase food access for underserved populations, connect value chains

  •  Strengthen Processing, Aggregation, Distribution “PAD” Infrastructure – e.g. connect or strengthen existing PAD infrastructure, make infrastructure more accessible to underserved populations, create new infrastructure, enhance food safety and security

Opportunities and additional resources will be developed and posted soon. Please check back often and sign up for our mailing list!
